This FREE guide will walk you through easy, meditative drawing techniques to help you relax, refocus, and reconnect — rediscovering the joy you felt as a child with a crayon in hand.

Ivan Trujillo is an accomplished visual artist and designer based in Berkeley, California, whose creative journey spans more than 18 exhibitions across cities like London, Atlanta, San Francisco, and Oakland. His work lives at the intersection of expressive abstraction, emotional resonance, and the human desire for calm and connection.
With an M.F.A. in Graphic Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), Ivan’s career has moved fluidly between gallery walls and creative classrooms, developing a practice grounded in quality, intention, and meaning. Through his art, he has touched the lives of collectors and audiences throughout the U.S., Latin America, and Europe.
Now, Ivan is channeling his decades of creative exploration into a new mission: helping others relax, reconnect, and rediscover themselves through meditative drawing.
After years of personal healing and artistic experimentation, Ivan developed a simple, intuitive approach to drawing that brings focus, calm, and mindfulness — no art background required. His step-by-step sessions are designed for everyday people seeking relief from stress, creative burnout, or simply the noise of modern life.
Whether you’re looking for a new form of meditation, a spark of creative energy, or a moment of stillness, Ivan’s meditative drawing practice offers a path inward — one line at a time.
My relationship with art began as a way to make sense of the world — and myself. Growing up, I didn’t always have the words to describe what I was feeling, but I found that I could say everything I needed to through lines, shapes, and color. Over the years, my studio became my sanctuary. In that space, surrounded by tools, textures, and light, I began to discover something unexpected: that drawing slowly, with no pressure, could quiet my anxiety and connect me to a calm I didn’t know I was seeking.
Like many artists and creatives, I’ve had seasons of burnout and overwhelm. The kind where inspiration feels just out of reach and stress takes over. During one of those seasons, I stopped trying to “make good art” and instead picked up a pen and began drawing, without a goal — just following patterns, breathing with the rhythm of my hand. That simple act changed everything. It brought me back to myself. And it helped me realize something powerful: drawing doesn’t have to be about making art — it can be about finding peace.
I began sharing this way of drawing with others — students, friends, even people who had never thought of themselves as creative. The response was immediate: they felt calmer, more present, even joyful. For many, it became a practice, a way to take a break from chaos and reconnect with something grounding and personal. That’s when I realized: this could help more people — people craving stillness, people who don’t meditate, people who need a gentle way back to themselves.
After guiding dozens of people through meditative drawing, I saw a pattern emerge. What they needed wasn’t artistic instruction — they needed a path, a simple structure they could follow to begin, without judgment or pressure. That’s when I developed my signature framework: a flexible, step-by-step method that combines mindfulness, line work, and intuitive pattern-building. It doesn’t require talent or experience — just willingness and a pen.
Today, I teach meditative drawing to anyone seeking calm through creativity. Whether you're feeling stressed, creatively stuck, or just looking for a new way to be present, this practice can meet you where you are. I believe art is more than self-expression — it’s self-care. And my mission is simple:
To help you breathe deeper, draw slower, and reconnect — one mindful line at a time.

"I'm delighted to own two pieces of art by Ivan, prominently displayed in my home. Ivan's creativity shines through in his beautiful and sophisticated work. He's truly an outstanding, amazing, and talented artist. I'll definitely be looking to acquire more of his creative and beautiful pieces in the future. Thank you!"
~Chris B., London, England

"This is an intriguing work of art which every time I look at it I can see something different from inside the human brain to plants to something seen through a microscope. Very nice piece of art and good to have one that never gets you bored."
~ Andy Frasheski, Berkeley, California

"We have three of Ivan's earlier works that have a delightful and playful spot in our home. The colors add a splash and catch the eye. These shapes work well with each other but also contrast at the same time. We are true fans of Ivan's work and have seen a taste of his newer work. We have added another piece to our collection."
~Kate K., Berkeley, California

"Ivan is an exceptionally talented painter whose work captures beauty and emotion with remarkable ability. His passion, skill, and dedication are evident in his works. It's a pleasure to see “Dancing Cactus”, a painting I own from his collection, where the attention to detail, use of colors, the intricate textures he created, and the fun concept creates a vibrant piece of art. Ivan's talent is truly special, and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to own a part of his work."
~Nick G., San Francisco, California

"Ivan's artwork is beautiful, a true feast for the eyes. Immersing oneself in one of the magical colorful forest paintings is an experience like no other. The colors and compositions are like music without words; you don't just see his art, you feel it".
~Ana F., Oakland, California

"I'm a huge fan of Ivan's paintings; I just love his style—it gives me such a good vibe. I also appreciate the way he plays with space and incorporates various textures, and uses warm colors. I plan to continue adding his artwork to my collection".
